FH Ventures: 3 overlooked summer startups
plus: precision fermentation has been around for decades

π‘ 3 Good Reads & 1 Question
π Scaffolding: If cultivated meat is ever to reach widespread adoption - as many predict - price parity will be crucial. And scaffolding thatβs simple and scalable could be a big part of the solution.
In the same way that scaffolding provides support to a crumbling building. Cultured meat scaffolding is necessary to give structure and texture to the end product. And scientists, startups and B2B suppliers have been busy experimenting with a variety of solutions, from plant-based polymers to nanofibres spun by electrodesβ¦
πΈ Funding slowdown? According to the latest data from CB Insights State Of Venture report - valuations are actually up. Global venture funding saw $108.5B raised across 7,651 deals last quarter β marking the biggest quarterly percentage drop in deals (and the second-largest drop in funding) in a decade. Despite this eye-opening decline, funding and deal totals remain above levels last seen in 2020.
π‘ People fear what they don't know - great tweet by Steve Molino (Principal at Clear Current Capital) which summarizes a fantastic article by Green Queen Media, which looks at how precision fermentation has been around for decades, and most of us are eating foods that contain ingredients made using the technology on a daily basis.

β Great question in the Discord Group by Brad Pruente of Prime Movers Lab. Some of us are starting to crowd source this data. Reply if you want to contribute.

π Bit of Fun
