π‘ Quick Reads
π΅ Nutrition for seniors - aka healthy ageing - has enormous potential to save on healthcare costs, enhance consumersβ wellbeing and lead to a reduction in lifestyle diseases.
With chronic illnesses on the rise, older consumers are looking to supplements, healthy meal plans, functional foods and more to keep themselves in shape. And F&B companies are recognising the promise of this market to sharpen up their offerings tailored at those aged 65 and over.More on that here
π Great Listen: Say what you want about Keith Rabois - but the dude clearly get's people. GP at Founders Fund and an early investor into DoorDash, Affirm, Opendoor and more. In this episode, he reveals more about his investment strategy, how he identifies the alpha founders and how you're probably not making the most of your time.
π‘ Good Idea: Have been saying this for awhile - but finding technical talent for foodtech / biotech startups is one of the biggest bottlenecks to scaling up. Our jobs board really works - but there's so much more that can be done to drive talent placement in this space.
π USA Infrastructure: The news I think many of us have been waiting for, the Biden administration is catching onto the opportunity that biotech and biomanufacturing can have for the economy and this could potentially be huge for US foodtech growth. More countries need to follow-suit asap.
π GMO Tomato: "After nearly 20 years of development, the USDA approved UK-based Norfolk Plant Sciencesβ purple tomato for commercial use β significant for its potential health benefits. The team used genes from the snapdragon flower to produce anthocyanin, an antioxidant-rich pigment also found in blackberries that may lower the risk of cancer."
π Bit of Fun
ouch.
Thanks for reading, and feel free to forward this to a Food/Climate investor who might enjoy the read too.
